ELIANA BENADOR: OBAMA BOWS TO THE U.N. DISAVOWS U.S. CONGRESS
It had to happen. Last week 47 senators open letter to the Iranian mullah regime could not go unanswered by President Barack Hussein Obama.
In their letter, the 47 senators let the leaders of the Iranian regime know that it would be a bad idea to sign an agreement with the president because, “Anything not approved by Congress is a mere executive agreement… between President Obama and Ayatollah Khamenei.” So much for a warning. Never mind that those two are de facto tyrannical dictators in each of their countries.
By now, Obama has delegated his Chief of Staff and Assistant to the President, Denis McDonough, the task to send a severe warning letter to the Senate.
Mr. Obama is too busy practicing golf and traveling with Air Force One to visit Jimmy Kimmel.
The letter indicates that since October 2013, senior Administration officials from the White House, the Departments of State, Treasury, Energy, Defence and the Intelligence Community have conducted more than 200 meetings, hearings, classified briefings, and calls with Senate and House Members and their staffs on Iran, over half of which have been conducted since January 2015.”
Two hundred meetings of all sorts, simply show the futility of the work they performed and above all the unwillingness to achieve any productive result.
On the other hand, in the letter to Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), Obama via McDonough threatens to veto the bill and hypocritically insists that “Congress will have a say in reviewing and affecting the ultimate outcome.”
In fact, Obama via McDonough demonstrates how the Administration would not see with good eyes if Corker’s Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015 should turn into law.
The bill, he writes, would “likely have a profoundly negative impact on the ongoing negotiations — emboldening Iranian hard-liners, inviting a counter-productive response from the Iranian majiles; differentiating the U.S. position from our allies in negotiations; and once again calling into question our ability to negotiate this deal.”
In this sense, it is remarkable how in such an official document, the Obama Administration has no qualms writing “majiles” instead of a possible translation in English, i.e., council. Indeed, that Arabic term means “a place of sitting”, and is used instead of “council.”
“Put simply,” continues McDonough, “it would potentially make it impossible to secure international cooperation for additional sanctions, while putting at risk the existing multilateral sanctions regime.”
Why do we have a sense of fear emanating from that letter? Further, Obama’s mouthpiece McDonough gives a consolation prize to Corker reassuring him that the Senate will play a role —“and will have to take a vote” — in any final agreement.
However, that vote, he specifies, would not be immediate and would come further down the line.
There is ample precedent for a non-legally binding international treaty premised on political commitments with a list showing prior cases, the most recent being the U.S.-Russia framework to remove chemical weapons from Syria.
Mr. Corker and his colleagues are reminded that despite the mention of non-binding agreements appeared in the letter from the 47 senators, there is a loophole that the Administration is now rubbing in the eyes of Congress.
Obama, forget now McDonough, explains that “the deal we are negotiating with Iran and the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Russia and China, and the European Union –are an essential element of international diplomacy and do not require congressional approval.”
He continues telling that… “Presidents from both parties have relied on such arrangements to address sensitive national security matters, including nonproliferation.”
You may read the entire letter and American patriots will be horrified what the bottom line of the letter is.
With it, Obama is flatly telling not only Congress but most importantly, the American people, that no matter what, it will have to be submitted to the ultimate decision-maker, the United Nations.
This is what is all about.
In no case is Mr. Obama working on behalf of the American people while he deals with the Iranian nuclear ayatollahs.
This is what mainstream media is purposefully not commenting on and it could not be clearer:
“The United Nations Security Council will also have a role to play in any deal with Iran.”
The letter goes on:
“Just as it is true that only Congress can terminate U.S. statutory sanctions on Iran, only the Security Council can terminate the Security Council’s sanctions on Iran. Because the principal negotiators of an arrangement with Iran are the five permanent members of the Security Council, we anticipate that the Security Council would pass a resolution to register its support for any deal and increase its international legitimacy. A resolution would also increase the international pressure on Iran to live up to the deal and would expand the risks if they failed to do so.”
The Administration is requesting Congress to leave them alone so they can negotiate “a good deal for the United States,” if you trust them, that is.
There is an added bonus: Their promise to put it up for vigorous discussion with Congress and “the people.”
The reality, however, is that Obama and his people will be looking after the globalist agenda of the United Nations.
And who holds the power in the United Nations? Mostly their largest donors, very likely Muslim countries, although bizarrely it is difficult to find detailed information on UN donors and their contributions system.
To be more assertive, Obama via McDonough, considers that he and his people “… do not believe the country’s interests are served by congressional attempts to weigh in prematurely on this sensitive and consequential ongoing international negotiation aimed at achieving a goal that we all share: using diplomacy to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon.”
Indeed, the key word is diplomacy which will dictate the approach to negotiations with the ayatollahs trying to get away with their nuclear intentions.
Diplomacy will be enforced for the benefit of a thug regime specialising in funding terrorism worldwide.
Mr. Obama’s priority? Making nice to the nuclear ayatollahs.
Once again the Muslim president of America bows to Islam while the American people continue standing idly by.
