Jared Kushner has been appointed to lead the new White House Office of American Innovation intended to checkmate the government ever growing lethargic bureaucracy.
Mr. Trump is used to conducting his businesses with due sobriety allowing for top efficiency as his signature quote indicates, “under budget ahead of schedule.”
Now he wants the same for his new workplace.
Coming out of a week where he pushed for a health care bill that failed, the President comes with another brilliant idea, the White House Office of American Innovation.
Jared Kushner will head it, making sure that the upcoming President’s reform of the care for veterans and his fight against opioid addiction will be successful.
The President wants to harvest ideas from the business world and, potentially, privatize some government functions.
The White House Office of American Innovation, to be led by Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law, and senior adviser, will operate as its own nimble power center within the West Wing and will report directly to Trump. Viewed internally as a SWAT team of strategic consultants, the office will be staffed by former business executives and is designed to infuse fresh thinking into Washington, float above the daily political grind and create a lasting legacy for a president still searching for signature achievements.
“All Americans, regardless of their political views, can recognize that government stagnation has hindered our ability to properly function, often creating widespread congestion and leading to cost overruns and delays,” Trump said in a statement to The Washington Post. “I promised the American people I would produce results, and apply my ‘ahead of schedule, under budget’ mentality to the government.”
The innovation office has a particular focus on technology and data, and it is working with titans of the caliber of Apple chief executive Tim Cook, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Salesforce chief executive Marc Benioff and Tesla founder and chief executive Elon Musk. The group has already hosted sessions with more than 100 such leaders and government officials.
In all, we are looking at a dream of many, but this time that may be coming true for America. The overhaul of government bureaucracy.
We cannot imagine how many world leaders, such as President Putin of Russia, may be smiling at the brilliance and matter-of-the-fact style of America’s President.
Granted, this author would not have complained if today, in the aftermath of the health care debacle, the President would have announced the immediate launch of a renewed effort under his leadership, to get health care for Americans finally right this time.
But we wish the President and his son-in-law best of luck in their new ambitious endeavor.
